The Hands United Foundation Logo was birthed by the same inspiration from which the foundation was created which is “Life happens!” The logo throughout the founding of the foundation took on many forms trying to find that one image that would make a simple statement like our mission statement, “Giving Hope when life happens.” In every revision, it had three things that remained consistent in every revision: It was a circle, the colors were blue and green, and it showed hands united.
The Circle
The circle throughout history has been a symbol of eternity and hope; as well as, it is a token of commitment as symbolized in an engagement ring, and a wedding band of an everlasting relationship. Our vision is that the foundation will continue to grow and will endure throughout the ages to serve those members and their families in need in the most devastating times of life.
The Colors
The colors of the logo begin as a blending of ideas in the very infancy of the vision of the foundation but today they rest in the meaning of the colors throughout the ages as they embody the message of our mission to provide hope and peace in life’s most disturbing moments. Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility and calmness. Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. The utilization of the two colors symbolizes the character of our foundation to be found stable, trusted, sincere, and vigilant to help those in need. The colors also promote our goal to provide hope that leads tranquility and peace that tomorrow will be brighter and that those in need are not alone on their journey.
One passage of Scripture, whether you are a believer or view the Scriptures from a literary work, that portrays these characteristics the best is the Shepherd’s Psalm verses 1-3:
Psalm 23:1-3a “1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: …”
The Shape
When you view the logo imagine looking down from above and viewing two persons with hands united encompassing a troubled soul and providing them comfort and hope. This was the artist, Marissa Chastain, view when she created the design that so simply embodies our mission statement, “Giving hope when life happens.
